Bruce Summerhays played his collegiate golf at the University of Utah and turned pro in 1966. He has eight children. His daughter, Carrie Summerhays Roberts, was an NCAA All-American at Brigham Young University – where she now coaches – and golfed on the LPGA Tour. His nephews, Daniel and Boyd Summerhays, are also professional golfers.
Summerhays has won 21 events in his professional career. His highest profile wins have come on the PGA Champions circuit where he has three titles to his name. He says that his biggest thrill in golf was winning the 2001 Champions Challenge with his son, Joseph. Between 2010 and 2013, Summerhays took a hiatus from golf to serve as a mission president for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Tampa, Florida.
A Hoopes Vision patient for over a decade, we are honored to have taken part in Bruce Summerhays’ journey.
