Olympic Bobsled Medalist Valerie Flemming has Vision Corrected at Hoopes Vision

Olympic Bobsledder, Valerie Fleming, chose Hoopes Vision for her recent vision correction procedure. During Valerie’s initial evaluation, Dr. Hoopes determined that she was a good candidate for PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy). Fleming’s Myopia (nearsightedness) and astigmatism were corrected in our surgery center, and she is happy to report that she is now seeing 20/20. When asked about her experience, Valerie stated “Everyone at Hoopes was extremely friendly and very helpful in explaining the process and transition of the surgery. I would definitely recommend Hoopes to future candidates”.  Valerie graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1998 with a degree in communications. While at UCSB she was a decorated track star in the javelin event. She continued her education at St. Mary’s College, earning a Master’s degree in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. She began bobsledding in 2003 and just three years later won a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Torino, Italy with driver Shauna Rohbock. The team has gone on to win at least 22 international medals together, including three World Cup gold medals. When Valerie isn’t competing, she enjoys spending time with her nephews Nicholas and Brandon. Congratulations on your new perfect vision Valerie!
