Dr. Hoopes, Jr. Presents KAMRA Inlay Findings to American Academy of Ophthalmology

PHJR AAO
Dr. Phillip C. Hoopes, Jr., a corneal specialist and cataract and refractive surgeon at Hoopes Vision, was a featured speaker at the 2015 Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) last weekend. Dr. Hoopes presented initial findings, impressions and patient outcomes from 32 of the first commercial KAMRA patients in the United States. KAMRA is a small-aperture corneal inlay designed to improve near vision in patients with presbyopia, the progressive loss of of ability to focus on near objects that is commonly referred to as “after-40 vision.” KAMRA is intended to improve near vision without the sacrifices in distance vision and depth perception that can sometimes occur with other near vision solutions such as monovision or multifocal lens implans. Starting in 2009, Hoopes Vision was one of the main sites for the FDA clinical trial of the device and on May 19th, Dr. Hoopes, Jr. performed the first KAMRA procedures after FDA approval.

Dr. Hoopes’ presentation discussed the promising results observed so far in the patients who have received the KAMRA inlay, the first device of its type to be available in this country. For patients between the ages of 45 and 60, Hoopes Vision offers a free consultation to determine candidacy for the KAMRA procedure. To learn more about this revolutionary device, or to request a complimentary evaluation to find out if you are a good candidate for KAMRA, please visit the KAMRA page on our website, call us at 801.568.0200, or contact us through our online contact form.
