LASIK Surgery

LASIK is a surgical procedure that uses a laser to correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and/or astigmatism. During the first step of LASIK, a thin flap in the cornea is created using the iFS IntraLase™ laser, providing the patient with a faster, more precise, and safer experience. In step two, the surgeon gently folds back the flap and applies excimer laser pulses to reshape the cornea according to specific measurements. Hoopes Vision uses the Wavelight EX500™ excimer laser, the newest, fastest, and most precise vision correction laser in the United States. Once the laser treatment is complete, the corneal flap is carefully put back into place, completing the procedure.

LASIK Price

Your special corporate LASIK price is $1850 per eye (usually $2450 per eye), including all pre and post-operative visits for 12 months. When you schedule your vision correction with us, you're saving $600 per eye ($1200 for both). *Discount is applied to new patients who've not had previous eye surgery or been diagnosed with an eye condition.

*We offer a complimentary comprehensive exam for new patients who have not had prior eye surgery, been diagnosed with cataracts, or have a prior eye condition. During this exam, we will determine the best vision correction option for you.

PRK Surgery

Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a type of refractive surgery used to treat nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Similar to LASIK, PRK uses the Wavelight EX500™ excimer laser to reshape the cornea. The primary difference with PRK is that no flap is created. During your procedure, your eye will be numbed with eye drops. Your eye surgeon will place an eyelid holder on your eye to keep you from blinking. In contrast, your surgeon gently removes the outer layer of cells on your cornea, called the epithelium, using an alcohol solution.

In step two, you will be asked to focus on a light while your surgeon reshapes your cornea using an excimer laser. After the excimer laser treatment, the surgeon places a clear, soft contact lens, called a bandage contact lens, on the eye. These special bandage contact lenses do not contain any prescription correction but simply protect the eye and keep the patient comfortable while the epithelial cells grow back.

SMILE Surgery

SMILE is a novel technique where just one laser is required, the Zeiss Visumax. Based on the patient’s prescription, the laser will create a microscopic “lenticule” (disc of tissue) inside the intact cornea. The lenticule is then extracted through a small opening. One of the main advantages is that SMILE is not performed under a flap or at the surface, allowing for a quick recovery. This will potentially reduce dry eye symptoms, which can be seen in some LASIK patients. Those who may not have been LASIK or PRK candidates in the past could benefit from this new technique.

Affordability

Use your HSA or FSA Account

Don’t forget you can use your tax-free Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for your vision correction surgery!

The limits for pre-tax contributions to both accounts rose slightly. An individual can set aside up to $2,700 in a healthcare Flexible Spending Account (also known as a Flexible Spending Arrangement). Some employers also contribute to employee FSA accounts, bringing the total allowable account balance to $3,700.

Another pre-tax health funding option is Health Savings Account (HSA). Individuals can set up to $3,500 and families up to $7,000 in an HSA.

Because FSAs or HSAs can be used to cover some or all of the cost of vision correction surgery, they are a popular financing option and a wise long-term investment.

Please check with your HR or Benefits Manager to learn more about what options are available to you.
