MALE VOICE: In my particular case, I had the custom intra LASIK procedure. And what I needed as a 47 year old was mono vision. Because of my age, that what was recommended by Dr. Hoopes for me. What that meant for me was that my left eye would be adjusted for up close reading. And then my right eye would be my distance vision eye. And to me, at the beginning, it sounded again a little bit fearful, odd. You know, how would it be to have one eye working at a close up distance, and the other at a distance.
But they allowed me to put on some glasses there in the office that gave me the sensation of what that would be like. And it was comfortable. It was different. And they told me it would take some time to adjust to that. And it has. After the surgery, it was a little bit odd for the first few weeks, but then everything starts coming together.
And the way they explained it to me was your brain, actually, makes an adjustment to one eye being close up and one eye being distance.
When I went through that process, and now it feels very normal and very comfortable to me. And it’s nice to be able to read something up close without any problem. But yet to be able to see those things at a distance and not having to deal with putting on glasses, taking them off, etcetera.
