Lee Snarr, Ken Corbett, Richard Paul Evans, LeeAnn Samsel, Dr. Hoopes, Cameron Oscarson, Robert Oscarson, Dr. Hoopes, Jr., and Karl Thomas
For one night, Utah’s premier refractive and cataract surgery center was converted into Utah’s newest art gallery! Our inaugural Art Night Out last Friday featured incredible original works of art from local artists, a book signing by bestselling author (and Hoopes Vision patient) Richard Paul Evans, and as the highlight of the evening, the unveiling of a beautiful new stained-glass window in our lobby. The window, which was commissioned by Dr. Hoopes and crafted by talented local artist R. Cameron Oscarson, is over ten feet wide and makes a stunning centerpiece to our patient waiting area.
While the new window was the undisputed center of attention, it was far from the only attraction. Guests at the Art Night Out enjoyed dozens of original pieces in a variety of media – from majestic bronze statues, to intimate portraits of historical figures, to evocative landscapes captured in oil paint or photography. Several of the artists were on hand, including Karl Thomas (a lifelong friend of Dr. Hoopes), Ken Corbett, and LeeAnn Samsel, admiring the works on display and talking with the other guests.
One only needs to set foot in our Sandy facility to see that we at Hoopes Vision appreciate art, and admire those among us who can create works of beauty and power using their hands and eyes. The walls of Hoopes Vision are filled with over sixty original pieces of art to remind us that among the best ways to enjoy the gift of sight is to view a beautiful work of art. The Art Night Out was a wonderful opportunity to share that love with our community as well as the artists themselves, and we thank everyone who attended.

Robbie Russell from real Salt Lake and Dr. Hoopes, Jr. at Hoopes Vision
It was a pleasure to have Robbie Russell in our office today for an eye exam. Real Salt Lake recently finished their season after an impressive year, including a record-breaking unbeaten streak at home and qualifying for the MLS Playoffs and the CONCACAF Champion’s League quarterfinals. With the season over, Robbie figured he would make use of the time off and come in for an eye exam at Hoopes Vision.
Robbie made national headlines last year in November, scoring the game winning goal of the 2009 MLS Cup in a penalty kick shootout, giving Real Salt Lake their first MLS championship.
Routine eye exams are an important part of maintaining good vision and good overall health. If it has been awhile since your last eye exam, please visit our Affiliated Doctors page to find a list of Utah optometrists that can perform a thorough eye exam for you. If you are interested in LASIK or other vision correction surgery, they will be able to answer your questions, or you can call us at (801)568-0200.
Hoopes Vision is proud to be the official LASIK surgeon and eye care provider for Real Salt Lake.
